Out of the mouth of babes

So a week or so ago I had a little conversation with my four year old that went like this:

Ella: (While playing with her blocks) Mom look! I made you a crotch.

Me: WHAT?!?!

Ella: A crotch like what's on your wrist.

Me: CROSS Ella, that's called a cross.

Ella: Oooooooh

Sore

Ok, I now realize how old I really am. Why does my shoulder hurt today? I know it isn't from working out because I did cardio the last two days. You know what that leaves? Knitting or I slept wrong. How pathetic.

Another birthday?!

Today has been a wonderful day. It is my 33rd birthday. (Ugh..I'm getting old.) I realized today that I am an "older" Mom for Ella's preK class but I digress.

I took Ella to school this morning then headed off to a county meeting for her school. When I got home my parents were at the house and Ella was home. Last night Ella and Bret baked me a cake. Bret frosted it this morning while I was gone with the cutest turtle picture on it.

We watched some of the inauguration on television and then Bret and my Dad went to pick up dinner from the Olive Garden. I decided to treat myself to fettuccine alfredo. I haven't had it since the day before Maddie was born. We enjoyed some cake and coffee after that.

I am now in heaven relaxing in my PJ's and watching the Red Wings. I call that a good relaxing birthday.

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes and for making my birthday a great one.

Will you thank God with us?

So, I realize this is two posts in one day but I didn't want this to slip into the cracks. Some of you know about a year ago my Father-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. He had surgery to remove what they could but they saw potential for other areas to develop. He has been getting regular blood tests and scans since then. I am over joyed to tell you all that today he got the results back from his latest scan and it showed NO cancer ANYWHERE in his body. We know these things don't happen on their own. It was God who healed him and we want to thank Him. One of the sayings that has become popular in our family is this: In good times praise Him, in hard times seek Him, in all times thank Him.

Please pass the milk

We have been craving cinnamon rolls here lately so today Ella and I got busy in the kitchen. I looked at several recipes but we went with a good ol' Paula Dean. It was really hard to be patient and wait for them to rise but in the end, I think we got a good result. Ooey gooey goodness.

Changes...

OK, so my dear friend Kendra over at The Homegrown Housewife taught me how to change my blog background. I've been doing digital scrap booking for a little while now and I just love finding new ways to use my Photoshop program. I can't stop playing and changing the background. Hope you all don't go cross-eyed while I play around. Thanks Kendra for not giving up on me and teaching me this fun new trick.

Proud

Briana is home this weekend which equals a fast and busy weekend. It started off with her having a ton of home work. She got a project on Thursday and it is due on Monday. She has to write a book on volcanoes for third grade students. (She is in sixth grade.) It has to have a rough draft, an index, glossary, table of contents, pictures and pictures with diagrams. She got right to work on Friday before we even picked her up. She and I worked together at Mom and Dad's on typing out some information and printing some pictures. Saturday morning she woke up early, closed her bedroom door and started working on it again. It is now Sunday early afternoon and she is back to work again. I am so proud of her. I never once told her to do her home work. She just went right at it. That is some dedication for an 11 year old. I'm really proud of her. I let her know how proud I am but I wanted to share with all of you too.

Pig Tails

Can it be? My littelst piggie is now 17 months old and can just now wear pig tails. Ella at this age had TONS of hair. I still have to wonder if Maddie's hair taking so long to grow has to do with her rough start. Or maybe it's just her. Either way it's adorable and as a Mom that makes bows I couldn't be more excited that she finally has enough hair to put them in. Judge for yourself though...are these pig tails or antennae?
